Why is Alberto Hurtado so important in Chile?


Alberto Hurtado was a Chilean Jesuit priest, who was born in 1901 in
Viña del Mar and died 1952 in Santiago after 51 years
cause of pancreatic cancer that had developed over the past
years. His religious vocation led him to enter the August 14, 1923, the
Society of Jesus. Founder of the Hogar de Cristo and also canonized 23
October 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI and are attributed to Father Alberto
Hurtado two miracles, Catholics revere as the San Alberto Hurtado. It
regarded in Chile as the patron of workers.
Al met his death 57 years, today is remembered San Alberto Hurtado
primarily for his work with the poor, their spirit and their social
priestly vocation.
